Barbering license
After you've completed and graduated from barbering school, you must take a state board test in order to test your theory knowledge on barbering as well as your cutting skills in order to see if your barbershop material. Applicants must pass a written and oral test which covers procedures of hairstyling and hair cutting, chemical treatments, scalp conditions, sanitation, safety techniques and state laws governing the barber profession. A practical exam may also be required, during which the applicant must cut the hair of a live model. Barber license exam fees typically range from $50 to $150.
